Five Shot, One Killed In Southwest DC Shooting Inside Home: Police Chief

Five people were shot and a sixth injured in a fatal mass shooting inside a Southwest DC home on Tuesday afternoon, authorities announced.

Shortly after 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, Assistant Metropolitan Police Chief Carlos Heraud said that officers rushed to the 200 block of M Street SW when they heard gunshots ring out.

Upon arrival, two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds, one of whom was pronounced dead at the scene and another who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

While still investigating the fatal shooting, Heraud said that three others arrived at local hospitals suffering from injuries also believed to be tied to the M Street SW shooting. A sixth suffered undisclosed injuries, but was not shot, the chief confirmed.

Police have not identified any of the victims, nor have they identified a possible shooter.

According to the initial investigation, everyone involved in the shooting were familiar with each other, and there is no BOLO for a possible suspect.

More information is expected be released as the investigation unfolds.
